Location: Kookaburra Organics, Conondale, Sunshine Coast.

This Course is designed for those who want to be Self Sufficient, or creating a  Serious Backyard/Urban Farm/Small Scale Market Gardens/Off-Grid Living & for those establishing Community Small Farms. 

Friday 10th April, Saturday 11th, Sunday 12th  & Monday 13th, 2020 Easter Weekend (Arrive after 1.00pm Friday)

Fully Catered event with delicious vegetable and meat dishes.  If you have any special dietitary needs you will need to provide for yourself. There is ample produce in the garden.   

Accommodation onsite. (FREE)  Bring your Tent, Van, Camper Trailor or Caravan. Showers & Toilet facilities available onsite.

THIS  Self-Sufficency WORKSHOP WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO GROW FOOD, MAKE SOURDOUGH BREAD,  PRESERVING FOOD WITHOUT IT COSTING YOU THE EARTH!

If you live on small acreage or intend to go Off Grid, or in a suburban Backyard, or creating a  sustainable community or just starting your Sustainable & independent lifestyle or need to improve your food growing skills, this workshop is perfect for you.

Our methods are applied simply and cost effectively. We use organic and sustainable practices so you can grow nutrient dense vegetables. Improve your lifestyle, wellbeing and save your money FOOD IS THE NEW CURRENCY. Everyone can grow food.  This workshop is a hands-on event, so be prepared to get your hands in the soil, or kneading the sourdough & join us in the early morning harvesting of vegetables.

  • Food Preserving(How to save your surplus for later use)
  • Solar System inspection aspect/format
  • Gravity feed water assessement/inspection
  • Essential Food plants for Survival.
  • Composting and Worm Farming & understanding the Secrets of Mulching.
  • DIY Fertilizers.
  • Pest management and control using everyday household ingredients.
  • Plant out seedlings & root crops and learn their secrets.
  • What to grow & When to grow it? You join in with the harvesting of vegetables for market.  Know how to pick, pack and store produce for longivity.
  • Pollination:the importance of how Honey Bees pollinate.
  • Marketing and selling your produce for profit or swap.

You will be confident to start your vegetable garden, FREE from petroleum based chemicals and other nasty toxins and GMO’s.

Gary is well known for his knowledge in organic growing in both temperate & sub–tropical areas.  He is a regular speaker at Garden Clubs, Sustainability Expo's and Organic Food groups and radio.  He conducts a range of vegetable growing workshops throughout the year catering for beginners through to the very experienced gardener. Paula West is the Queen Bee/ Apiarist of Adopt a Beehive. www.adoptabeehive.com.au  Paula’s approach to beekeeping is totally holistic and natural and she will impart some vital “must know” info about bees, pollination and your veggie garden.   Her expertise and comments are regularly sought by media groups.

Several articles have been published about Adopt a Beehive in the Sunshine Coast Daily and the prestigious Salt magazine.
